Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education Skills for the workplace

About Course

  • This is a flexible full-time course, as a result, the delivery pattern of the Outreach Programme in particular, has been specifically designed to enable students to continue with other life and work commitments alongside their studies.
  • The programme is specifically created in its content and flexible delivery to give you the tools to apply your personal transferable skills to improve your workplace performance and employment prospects.
  • You will develop the confidence to anticipate problems and find solutions, to work independently and communicate effectively with other people at all levels within the workplace, to plan things out before you start and complete the things you've started, in short, to develop the skills that employers want!

  • Entry to the CertHE Skills for the Workplace Outreach Programme in leadership and management is by assessment of your individual merit and experience. Importantly we look for a demonstrable commitment and motivation to study.
  • All applicants, who must be aged 21 years old or more, are required to make an expression of interest in the programme by applying online for a provisional place. This application may be withdrawn at any time prior to officially enrolling for the programme.
  • Once an expression of interest has been made arrangements will be made for the applicant to undertake a short comprehension test as part of the Selection Process, during which we will assess your reading and writing skills.
  • This Certificate of Higher Education in leadership and management is part of the University’s mission to widen access to higher education. Whilst it is desirable that applicants possess previous qualifications, it is not essential. The whole ethos of this programme is to provide the opportunity to those adults, who would not normally qualify for entry to a degree programme.
  • All applicants are interviewed after they have completed an online application. All offers of a place are based on the individual’s intention, motivation and readiness to work hard to succeed in their studies.
  • Normally students under the age of 21 applying for the course will have at least NVQ Level 3, 1 A Level or BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent and some work experience. More mature students are assessed on a desire and willingness to learn and to develop their skills.
